She considers the stakes, and stares at the snoring form of parker jones curled up with Maisey, and thinks he could have killed me in the prison, but he didn't. Stripped of her powers, she would have been no match for a man twice her size.[break][break]
This time, she leaves Parker a note, kisses her forehead, silently pledges a swift return. Always, she is making promises she can't keep, but nobody will end up in the hospital this time. Not if she can help it.[break][break]
She rips a hole in reality, arriving instantly in Fallarbor. The city is feather-dusted in ash, an ominously grey backdrop for a rather cryptic meeting invite. She is haloed in the crystalline blue after-glow of her teleportation, Mîr - the Unown he'd gifted to her - floating by her shoulder.[break][break]

To her? To Hoenn? It's a convoluted prophecy - as they all are - but it settles onto her psyche like a warm blanket.[break][break]
A small measure of reassurance.[break][break]
"Likewise."[break][break]
Which she did mean, despite his violent meddling in Rocket's affairs with the Megalopolians.[break][break]

He wanted to wave off Nomi’s sentiment but, in doing so, he would level the playing field. He needed to negotiate from a place of power.

“I’d like your help with a few things. Namely, the DRK Triad—” he narrows his eyes “—and your connection to them. Can you tell me more about their strengths, their weaknesses?”

More pointedly, however.

Too many tangled threads, each one a complication to an otherwise straightforward goal: survive.[break][break]
"You've come around, then?" It is a rhetorical question, given his mentioning of the topic, but she cannot keep the slight amusement from her expression. "To realizing that the the DRK Triad is our greatest threat?"[break][break]
No, his body language screams. Not quite. Maybe it isn't hate, anymore, but it isn't trust, either. Rocket will always be his enemy, even if he can see the forest for the trees.[break][break]
"They are not Avatars, no. In fact, they fear Avatars - supposedly due to our unstable, anomalous natures, but I think it is because they cannot stand against us. Especially not if we all united."[break][break]
A lofty plan, one she may never accomplish, in the end.[break][break]
"But they do wield a tremendous amount of power. They have access to technologies we can only dream of: ways of traversing Ultra Space, other dimensions, and even virtual spaces, such as the RKS Machine." There is a note of envy in her voice. "They can chain legendary Pokemon to their will. It's not a bond so much as a cage. You saw the way Dialga and Palkia were confined and controlled by them a while back, yes?" She assumes a man of his station had been involved in the Meteno incident. "So we have that to contend with."[break][break]
Not to mention the Unown still under their influence.

A tension fills the space between them, a potent petrichor. The fate of their continued alliance hinges on her answer.[break][break]
"I stood with them," she finally replies, leaning into sincerity. Her voice is quiet, perhaps even remorseful.[break][break]
"I wanted to recruit them." She holds up a hand before he can protect. "Not to Rocket. To my cause. They know what it's like to have their world destroyed, their home annihilated. We could have learned a lot from them, and in return, I'd have helped them in whatever ways they needed. Perhaps they would have eventually fought alongside us; after all, there's no telling what might happen to them should the DRK Triad succeed."[break][break]
If they really worked for Arceus, no world would truly be safe from its divine judgement.

She has faith in illeana reyes, but knows better than to assume the other scientist immune to a decaying psyche: it is no small thing to be tethered to a God, especially one as ancient and powerful as Palkia. Necrozma's patronage is no different.[break][break]
"All Avatars are dangerous, some more than others."[break][break]
She eyes Greyson pointedly, as if to emphasize yes, even me.[break][break]
"Right now, Necrozma's Avatar is intent on finding and destroying the DRK Triad," she continues. "Which makes him my ally. But do not think for a second that I am blind to the risks."
